Joey Fabus was an 8 year old boy when he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in May 2014. His cancer was Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) and the current survival rate is 0%. Most children afflicted with this disease die within 9-12 months of diagnosis. On January 21, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, Joey died from DIPG. Current treatment options have not been successful. More research and funding are desperately needed.
The Joey Fabus Childhood Cancer Foundation (JFCCF) began in honor of Joey Fabus to let the world know what an amazing boy he was, to raise awareness, and to raise funds to be donated to successful DIPG research facilities throughout the world in hope that a cure will be found for this awful disease. Please visit our website, JFCCF.org for more information about the Foundation.
With the race, JFCCF hopes to raise awareness and important funding to someday help end DIPG in honor of Joey and all of the other children who have passed or are afflicted with this unspeakable disease.
